Risk

jacks place Foundation is building a Risk Management Strategy and Appetite statement that covers the breadth of risks associated with the development and delivery of person centred health and wellbeing services. This will focus on

  • Customer and Service
  • Delivery Risks Operational Risks
  • Personnel Health and Safety Risks
  • Legal Risks
  • Financial Risks

Our initial focus has been on the identification and documentation of the risks and mitigation approach for customer and service delivery risks as detailed in the table below.

Guests becoming abusive / violent during their stay
  • Staff trained in de-escalation techniques.
  • Established protocols to maintain safety of guests and staff including building lock down.
  • Security escalation protocols and relationships with local police.
Several guests becoming highly acute and unstable at once
  • Staff ratios developed and funded to manage changes in guest stability.
  • Care model designed to be flexible with staff when required and surge protocols developed to cater for high volatility of guests.
  • Include access to trained volunteer peers when guest needs demand higher ratios of care
Restrictive practice compliant
  • Design and build care model to be compliant.
  • Co design with restrictive practices experts
Detox Appropriate and safe spaces for detox are provided within the facility to enable guests with alcohol or other drug addictions to detox as part of their recovery within the jacks place model of care.
Lack of adequately trained and experienced staff and volunteers
  • Robust and clearly defined HR standards and processes.
  • Creation and maintenance of an inclusive and enabling workplace culture.
  • Development of inhouse or partnered training and CPD programs to maintain the currency and fit of skills aligned to model of care
